The Borough or District Council is normally the
Local Planning Authority. Each authority has its
own Local Plan. This is the rulebook by which
all planning applications are judged - or is it?
For a time that used to be the case and for many
applications that is still so. Planning needs
constantly change and directives are issued by
central government which in some instances drastically
affect the policies in local plans.
The structure of the whole planning system is
currently under review.
In this area government has decided that we must
help solve some of the planning problems that
exist in the south east of England. There are
a variety of studies currently in hand including
the MK and South Midlands Draft Sub-Regional Strategy
and the Multi-Modal Study, which will greatly
influence future development up to the year 2021.
Getting the correct planning advice early will
save you time and money.
